German police break up neo-Nazi rally LUDWIGSBURG, Germany, April 6 (Reuter) - German police said on Thursday they had broken up a neo-Nazi rally, seizing knives and banned racist propaganda material. The police in Stuttgart said 25 rightists aged 18 to 25 had tried to hold a meeting in a bar in the city of Ludwigsburg on Wednesday night. In Dortmund, a court handed down suspended sentences and fines on 11 neo-Nazis who had threatened leftists and scrawled banned racist and Nazi slogans on walls. It said the defendants, aged 20 to 27, had ``terrorised'' members of a left-wing group through hate mail and telephone calls. In Dresden, several hundred people gathered to mourn the death four years ago of the first foreign victim of neo-Nazi violence in east Germany since unification in 1990. Jorge Gomondai, 28, from Mozambique, died days after he jumped out of a moving tram to escape from racist thugs. The mourners attended a church service and then marched silently through the city to the spot where he suffered his fatal injuries. At least 30 people, mainly foreigners, have been killed in a surge of neo-Nazi violence since German unification.
