nazi general to go to jail for claiming holocaust a lie

BERLIN, nov. 25 (nca/AP) - a german federal appeals
court today the jail sentence of an 81-year-old World War II
general who has published a pamphlet that claims the Holocaust
was a jewish fabrication. prosecutor walter rupprecht said
Otto-Ernst Remer must begin serving his 22-month sentence in a
few weeks. remer was convicted a year ago of inciting the public
and spreading racial hatred by publishing a pamphlet called
"dispatch" from his home. it says allied forces and jews lied
about the nazi murder of 6 million jews to get reparations from
germany. rupprecht says remer continued to publish the pamphlet
after his conviction. remer was promoted to major general after
helping hitler capture supporters of a 1944 plot to assassinate
the nazi leader.
