RE: Conferment of the Kriegsverdienstkreuz. RE: My telegram to you, no. 2719, of 19 Nov. 1941. The Commandant's Office has submitted to date two lists recommending the conferment of the Kriegsverdienstkreuz. In both of these appear SS personnel who participated in executions. We herewith request confirmation as to whether these names should be listed once again in the roll currently under preparation. Further requested is information as to whether in the recommendation lists under "Reasons and Comments of Immediate Superior" there should be specified, "Execution, i.e., special action" or whether a general, routine reason should be given. The Camp Commandant Signed, Roedl SS Obersturmbannfuehrer [Reply to the previous inquiry. Dated 20.November.1941] In the lists of recommendation for the conferment of the KVK to SS members who participated in the executions, under "reasons" enter: "completion of vital war assignments." The word "execution" should under no circumstances be mentioned. In the lists to be handed in, the names already submitted should be cited once again. Signed, Liebehenschel SS Obersturmbannfuehrer
