On August 2, 1996 the following letter was sent to Ernst
Zundel by the Canadian Human Rights Commission. (This is a
transcribed version, not a copy.)

Dear Mr. Zundel:

The Canadian Human Rights Commission has received a
complaint from the Toronto Mayor's Committee on Community
and Race Relations alleging discrimination on the grounds of
race, religion, and national or ethnic origin, contrary to
section 13.(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act. A copy of
the complaint form and attachments are enclosed for your
information.

Penny Goldrick has been assigned to investigate this
complaint and to submit a report on the investigation
findings to the Canadian Human Rights Commission. She will
be in touch with you or your representative in the near
future to obtain information related to the allegations in
the complaint. Please address your correspondence or
enquiries concerning this investigation to her directly. She
can be reached at (613) 943-9014, and the fax number is
(613) 941-6809.

In the meantime, could you please submit to the investigator
the name, address and telephone number of the person who
will be your official representative in this matter, as well
as your position regarding the allegations, and copies of
any related documents. We would appreciate receiving your
response by September 6, 1996.

I would also like to draw your attention to section 48 of
the Canadian Human rights Act which allows the parties to
settle a complaint in the course of investigation. The
investigator will be pleased to discuss the possibility of a
settlement with you or your representative at any time. I
look forward to your cooperation in the investigation of
this complaint.
