PAUL FROMM
AT NEO-NAZI SYMPOSIUM

David LETHBRIDGE

SACAR has recently obtained video footage of Paul Fromm, the Toronto-based
white racist, speaking at a neo-Nazi symposium in Urbana, Illinois. The
memorial symposium, held on 19 November 1994 was "to honor and celebrate
Revilo Oliver, following his death. The symposium was filmed for National
Vanguard, the propaganda arm of National Alliance, one of the largest and
most significant neo-Nazi organizations operating in North America today.
National Alliance is run by William Pierce, a former propaganda organizer
in the American Nazi Party.

Revilo Oliver, a professor of Classics, wrote regularly for such blatantly
white supremacist, anti-Semitic, and fascist periodicals as "Liberty Bell"
and "Racial Loyalty." He served on the board of the National Youth Alliance, the direct forerunner of the National Alliance. He wrote such books as
"America's Decline," and "What We Owe Our Parasites" works permeated with
Nazi Aryan philosophy, and spoke of a "beatific vision" wherein "all the
Jews were vaporized at dawn tomorrow."

Paul Fromm, director of C/Far (Citizens for Foreign Aid Reform), and CAFE
(Canadian Association for Free Expression), in his 30 minute eulogy,
referred to Oliver as "one of the giants of our century," and "one of the
real greats, one of the real giants of our century." Fromm said that he
"corresponded with him for a number of years," and that "he was a very
generous confidante, and certainly a man I greatly admired."

During Fromm's speech, which centered around his opposition to a
"multicultural, multiracial society," he used typically Nazi language
saying, "If we are going to be true to our Aryan spirit, to the very
best of our people, which is reason" it would be necessary to have
the courage to face difficult conclusions, and that he was "doing what
Aryan man has always done ... facing reality." He further stated that
"my own personal belief is that there is not a conspiracy, but perhaps
many, most of them aimed at the survival of our people." He said that
it was necessary to "recapture the greatness of our race's spirit and
then we can retake this continent."

Fromm concluded his eulogy in half-English, half-German, saying
"farewell alte kamarade."

Other participants at the symposium included David Duke, the "former"
Klansman and Nazi, Holocaust-denier Charles Weber, and Canadian Ann
Hartmann, associated with the Heritage Front and RealWomen. The tape
concludes with German music and a rendition of "Deutschland Uber Alles."
