Although this may not be the occasion for a history of Mr. Weber's efforts in extremist causes, one would be hard pressed to find a legitimate historian or human rights researcher who would agree with his protestations that Holocaust ''revisionism'' is not anti-Semitic. In seeking to whitewash the crimes of the Hitler state, Holocaust ''revisionists'' portray mass murderers as the victims of a malicious smear campaign, while those who lost their loved ones are depicted as vindictive liars seeking to demonize an entire people. I do not know to whom Mr. Weber is referring when he speaks of a ''growing number of Jews who support the revisionist view.'' But Willis Carto, the founder of the Institute for Historical Review for whom Mr. Weber works, wrote: ''Hitler's defeat was the defeat of Europe. And of America. How could we have been so blind? The blame, it seems, must be laid at the door of the international Jews. It was their propaganda, lies and demands which blinded the West to what Germany was doing. If Satan himself, with all of his superhuman genius and diabolical ingenuity at his command, had tried to create a permanent disintegration and force for the destruction of the nations, he could have done no better than to invent the Jews.'' This then, is the real agenda of those who claim that the gas chambers of Auschwitz are a hoax and that Anne Frank's diary is a forgery. And it comes straight from the horse's mouth.
