It's the one with the Bell Curve on the cover. It has a number of letters about the Holocaust revision issue. If you have it, Toner's original letter is in there. If not, then I'll include a photocopy of it. Give me an address where I can mail the stuff and I'll send his materials to you. Or, if you want, send him a note yourself. I'm sure he'll send you everything you could want. His address is: Edward Toner 52 Newbury Road Howell, NJ 07731 Here's the copy of my letter that I sent to _Skeptic_: Mr. Toner's letter ("Population Revisionism," vol. 3, no.3) contains at least one egregious misrepresentation sufficient to undermine his entire argument. Mr. Toner's argument is, essentially, that the number of Jewish survivors who made claims against the West German government precludes the possibility that six million Jews perished. To make this claim, however, Mr. Toner uses the number of *people* who made claims against West Germany, rather than the number of Jewish survivors. Mr. Toner asserts that 4,393,365 "Jewish survivors outside the Iron Curtain...made claims against the W. German government...." According to the very source (the German Information Center's _Focus On_ no. 1/May 1985) that Mr. Toner cites for his figure, these claims include the following: "...those persecuted for political, racial, religious, or ideological reasons -- people who suffered physical injury or loss of freedom, property, income, professional and financial advancement as a result of that persecution. In addition to racial and political victims of the Third Reich, the law includes compensation for artists and scholars whose works disagreed with Nazi tenets. It also provides compensation for people who were persecuted merely because they were related to or friendly with victims of the Nazis. Finally, it guarantees assistance to the survivors of the deceased victims." Clearly, then, and contrary to Mr. Toner's assertion, these claims are anything but limited to Jews. It appears that Mr. Toner has artificially inflated the number of Jewish survivors so as to artificially reduce the number of Jewish victims. Richard Trott New Brunswick, NJ trott@gandalf.rutgers.edu
