Tell that to Lieutenant Commander Jack Taylor of the US Navy who was captured on an intelligence mission and sent to Mauthausen concentration camp on April 1, 1945. After the war, he testified as a witness for the prosecution in UNITED STATES vs. HANS ALTFULDISCH, March 1946. Mauthausen was a Vernichtungslager or extermination facility. He testified that GASSINGS took place at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily in a chamber accomodating 120 prisoners at a time. He testified that soon after he arrived, 367 Czech Jews marched through the entrance gate of the camp. They were soon stripped and led directly into the gas chamber. Later, when their bodies were placed in the new crematorium where Taylor was on a work detail, he noticed something unusual. The old emaciated prisoners usually emitted a pale, yellow smoke. These younger, healthier victims produced black, oily fumes and flames which shot from the stack. After liberation, Taylor confiscated the set of 18 Totenbucher, death books. These journals constituted something of a double-entry system of Mauthausen barbarity. The death books contained the actual cause of death, whether lethal injection to the heart or gassing. Or tell this to Alfred Bottoms from England. He and 400 other Brits were P.O.W.'s in 1944 in Arbeitslager Monowitz, a sub-camp of Auschwitz. Ask him about that horrible stench in the air, that stench of burning flesh. Ask Arthur Dodd about *his* experiences as a P.O.W. at Monowitz (Auschwitz 3). Are you going to doubt the word of a US Navy officer ? Or British P.O.W.'s ? None of whom were Jewish. Josh backon@VMS.HUJI.AC.IL =30=
