November 20

1943

The "Death Brigade" in the Lesienice camp outside Lvov,
consisting of Jewish prisoners who had worked alongside
Sondercommando 1005 to destroy traces of German atrocities,
stages a revolt. The prisoners attack the German guards,
killing a number of them, but are overpowered; fewer than
ten survive. (USHMM, 1993, p. 51)

1944

Haviva Reik, a British intelligence agent, is executed in
Kremnica, Slovakia, after her capture following the
Slovakian revolt. In September she had parachuted into
Slovakia to join other Palestinian Jews who were working
with Slovakian partisans, helping to form a Jewish partisan
unit that fought during the Slovak uprising. (USHMM, 1994, p. 68)
