(USHMM, 1993, p. 49) 1944 At 5 A.M. the Hungarian police and Arrow Cross units begin an operation against Budapest Jews, starting with the arrest of able-bodied males. By evening, twenty-two thousand Jews are arrested and moved directly to work on building fortifications.
