1941

The first death convoys organized by the Reich Main Security Office
left Germany for the East. This measure was adopted in response to the
commission Heydrich received on 31 July from Goering "on the Fuehrer's
instructions"; namely, to carry out the "aimed at Final Solution of
the Jewish question... (Fleming, 67)

1944

With the political climate changed and the previous
Hungarian government deposed, the fate of Hungarian Jews
enters a new and terrible phase. Eichmann, who returned to
Budapest on October 17 "negotiates" with the new Minister of
Interior Vajna about the deportation on foot of fifty
thousand Jews. It is also decided to concentrate the Jewish
population in four ghetto-like camps in the suburbs of
Budapest and impose stricter measures on formerly exempt
