(Hilberg, Perpetrators, 258) 1943 Speakers at a meeting in New York sponsored by the American Jewish Conference, an umbrella organization of major Jewish bodies formed in response to the emergency in Europe, call for immediate Allied action to rescure Jews from German- controlled countries. (USHMM 1993, 42) 1944 Einsatzkommandos 13 and 14 are formed in Bratislava as the core of Einsatzgruppe H, which is to conduct "security operations" in order to repress the Slovakian National Uprising during fall and winter. These operations are used both to murder and to round up for deportation Jews, Gypsies, and antigovernment Slovaks.
