Police Battalion 314 reports shooting 367 Jews in a "cleansing 
action." British code-breakers tell Churchill that the German SS
and Order Police (not the Einsatzgruppen...) killed over 12,000 Jews
between August 23 and 31st. (Browning, 17; Breitman, 96)
