"One of the earliest reports of the true extent of the
Holocaust reached the West ... from Switzerland, in a
telegram sent by Gerhart Riegner, the WJC's representative
in Geneva, to Sidney Silverman, M.P., in London and Rabbi
Stephen Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, in
New York.

"Received alarming report that in Fuehrer's
headquarters plan discussed and under consideration
according to which all Jews in countries occupied or
controlled Germany numbering three and a half to four
million should after deportation and concentration in
east be exterminated in one blow to resolve once and
for all the Jewish question in Europe. Action reported
planned for autumn; methods under discussion including
     prussic acid. ..." (LeBor, 28-29)
