The British Government Code and Cipher School at Bletchley intercepts 
and deciphers an encoded message, by Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski, 
Ordnungspolizei commander in the Soviet republic of Belarus: "In Monday's 
cleansing action in Slonim, carried out by Police Regiment Center, 
1,153 Jewish plunderers were shot," he wrote.  (Davis, Douglas.
