[Kiev] Dr. Becker reports the overhauling of Nazi "death vans" to SS
Obersturmbannfuehrer Rauff, in Berlin. He describes how he disguised some
as house trailers, and complains that the gassings are causing death by
suffocation, rather than the victims' "dozing off as planned."

German Foreign Minister von Ribbentrop
informs the German legation in Budapest of a plan to
persuade the local population to participate more fully
in actions against the Jews. Hitler has indicated that in
the event Hungarians assist in carrying out anti-Jewish
measures, it might be possible for German authorities to
provide them with financial incentives from Jewish
capital. (USHMM 1994, 43)
