Germans living in Gedern (Hessen) broke into the houses of
the town's Jews and brutalized them. One was beaten so badly
that he had to spend a year in hospital. (Goldhagen, 94)


German occupation authorities in Holland issue an order that
all Jews residing in eight out of the country's eleven
provinces are to be sent to the Vught concentration camp
(also known by the Dutch name `s Hertogenbosch.) (USHMM
1993, p. 27)


Hitler orders implementation of Operation Margarethe, the
code name for the occupation of Hungary. (USHMM 1994, 32)

German troops and Ukrainian nationalists burn the village of
Plikorov near Lvov, killing 385 people. The inhabitants were
accused of helping the partisans. (Ibid.)
