1943

German forces begin a week-long operation to deport Jews
from Bialystok. Thousands hide successfully, but seven
hundred are killed for resistance activities, and dozens
commit suicide. Ten thousand are deported to the killing
centers of Treblinka, Majdanek, and Auschwitz. (USHMM, 1993. Pg. 22)
